The Heart of a Giant Memorial Cornhole Tournament was founded by Carrie McCaw's closest friends and family in memory of Carrie and her daughter Kacey, who were taken from this world together on Valentine's Day 2020.
Carrie was a decorated athlete, a devoted mother, and a fierce competitor who gave everything she had to her family, her faith, and her community. From her days playing volleyball at St. Raphael through Assumption and Syracuse University, to coaching her own children on the courts where she once played, Carrie poured her heart into everything she touched. She was the first to show up for anyone in need β with her time, her talent, and her treasure. Kacey, just 12 years old, had already inherited her mother's tenacity, leadership, and love of the game. Together, they left a mark on everyone fortunate enough to know them.
This tournament exists to carry their legacy forward in two meaningful ways:
Each year, we award scholarships to two St. Raphael graduates β one young man and one young woman β continuing Carrie's belief in the power of education, faith, and community.
A portion of every dollar raised supports families and individuals experiencing loss and hardship, honoring Carrie's lifelong example of generosity to those in need.
βIn loving memory of Carrie and Kacey McCaw β forever in our hearts, forever Heart of a Giant.β
